TRIBUTE TO BARR. NKIRUKA CHIDINMA UKELONU
( FROM THE CLASSMATES OF HOLY ROSARY SECONDARY SCHOOL, UMUAHIA. )
Chichi Nwabueze, (as she was popularly addressed in school) was our classmate, a friend and a sister. Despite being the third daughter of Late Dr. Nwabueze who was well known in Umuahia then, she was quite unassuming, simple and peaceful. She had a smile that always beamed and was quick to laugh. Though, some of us have not been opportune to be with each other since we left Umuahia, we have looked forward with excitement the day we will reunite as old girls to celebrate and reminisce. As they will say "Time is not ours," and now, this happened leaving all of us devastated and speechless!
We are told that our dear Chichi Nwabueze "lost her battle after a period of illness!" To us, she did not. The "illness" did! When the Angels beckoned her, like a bird from prison bars, she flew away to the "Glory Land" leaving behind the "illness" and it's weary days.
Yes! To a land where there's no more sorrows and no more pain.
Yes! To a land where there's no more suffering and her joy will never end!
Yes! To a land where peace, and nothing but perfect peace exists!
Her candle may be burned out, but her legend never will. We will forever cherish her friendship, her laughter, her simplicity and her generosity.
Chichi, losing you is painful, but the Heavens gaining you is better. Keep on singing and dancing with the Angels till we meet again.
May God continue to comfort all her children, family, friends and colleagues she left behind. Goodnight our dear sister and friend. You will surely be missed!
